School Bus Driver Training Program

We feel that proper school bus training in real-world situations is the only way to ensure you’re ready for the challenging yet rewarding job of school bus driving. There are several steps to our Rohrer school bus training program:

  • Overall training will take between 35 and 40 hours. If you’re capable and motivated, you can do it in less time, and we work closely with each trainee to monitor your progress and ensure you’re acquiring the knowledge and skills you need to be a top-notch school bus driver.
  • You will spend a minimum of 14 hours in the classroom, which is required by PA State Law. We schedule this training from Monday to Friday at our offices, to make it easy for you to fit it into your schedule. We use the additional time for company orientation and to make sure you are thoroughly informed about the job. You will learn the theories and rules of safe bus operation, as well as what to expect when interacting with children of all ages.
  • You will also follow 10-20 hours of hands-on, in-bus training, as you get comfortable driving a bus. Rohrer is a PennDOT certified training and testing facility. We take the time necessary for you to feel confident in your driving skills, and will only test and licence you once you feel you are ready for it.
